Bilal Muslim Mission Tanga branch once again organized a day for food distribution at its 23 centres in Tanga region.

A total of 17,150 kgs of Maize flour, 6,990 kgs of rice and 3,600 kgs of sugar was distributed to approximately 2000 people at its various centers in Tanga.

Open forum, an initiative that Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya embarked on last year to deliberate on issues affecting the locals in the various rural villages that the mission operates in.

bmmk_forum_2Key among them is; declining unity amongst Muslims, insecurity, educational and leadership challenges among others.

On 14th April 2013, an Open Forum was organized at Ahlul Kisaa Centre, Kichakamkwaju in South Coast region of Kenya. The Mission invited leaders, local scholars and followers of various sects across the Muslim domain to talk about the message from the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.W) on how to overcome these challenges. 18 madaaris from across the region participated in this forum.

Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya organized a ten days IRE seminar for the Assistant Muallims in charge and IRE Teachers from 15 BMMK rural centers, Zahra Madrassah and Swafaa Islamic Center from 15th April 2013 to 26th April 2013. A total of 38 participants attended this seminar.

The main objective of this seminar was to guide the participants on teaching methodologies. Different topics on the educational spheres like on Qualities of a teacher, Traditional & Contemporary teaching methods, Building Teacher-Student-Parent relationship, Reflective Practice in teaching,  Use of chalkboards &  teaching aids, Classroom management, Teachers' Professional documents, Teaching methods & learning styles and Micro teaching. These were dealt with by the facilitators Br Lubuva Eliyasa, Principal – Coast Teachers Training College, Kibaha, Dar es Salaam, Mr. Kazungu Charo, Teacher from Jaffery Academy, Mombasa and Br. B A Ahmedali, Quality Assurance Standards Department (QASD) from Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya.

BEST STUDENT AWARD 2012

The Best Student Award Scheme recognizes the accomplishments of students within our community who have achieved outstanding results at O–levels. It has been conducted successfully for many years by the Education Board under the auspices of the Federation of KSI Jamaats of Africa.

The award is open to boys and girls who have appeared for the National Examination and Overseas Board Examination "O" levels during the academic year i.e. January to December.

This year, the Education Board received applications from Dar es Salaam, Mombasa and Arusha. After close scrutiny on the set criteria of selection, the following are the results:

The Bilal Comprehensive School which is situated in the outskirts of Dar es Salaam, in Temeke area on 30th April 2013, celebrated the Wiladah of Bibi Fatemah Az Zahra (SA) , the daughter of the Holy Prophet of Islam, Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa (SAWW) themed - "Mothers' Day" as recommended by Imam Khomeini (RA).

The Wiladah celebration was performed in phases where each individual took part in the activity and the students anxiously made cards to wish their mothers and presented to them when time approached of Mothers' Day.

Students celebrated first half of the day in quiz and Qaswida program.

Tribute to Shaheed Prof Sibte Jaffer Zaidi held at KSIJ, Kinshasa, DRC

The Khoja Shia Isna Asheri Jamaat of Kinshasa, Congo held a Tribute in memory of Shaheed Prof Sibte Jaffer who was shot in Pakistan on March 18, 2013.  The targeted attacks against minority Shias have become a routine and tragic affair in Pakistan for the last 15-20 years. Sadly, the frequency has increased and operations have become more organized in the last 3-4 years, be it in the tribal belt of Hangu, the Western valley of Quetta or the Southern Port city of Karachi.

Ustaad Sibte Jaffar, as he was popularly known among poet lovers as well as among the thousands of students world-wide, was the Principal of a Government College in Karachi.  On his way back home from College riding his old 70cc motorbike, he was shot at a close range by the waiting terrorists; Ustaad was 55 years of age. He left behind a widow and 3 children.
