| The Federation Samachar is a
quarterly publication of the Federation of K.S.I. Jamaats
of Africa. Originally the Samachar was distributed as a
newsletter and today it has grown to become the leading
publication of the community world-wide. |

| The Samachar has grown to
now also include news and articles from around the Shia
World and with access to the internet, the Samachar is
expected to further enhance its reportage of communal
news from around the world. The page set up of Samachar
normally includes your letters, an editorial, news from
the Shia World, News from Around Africa, Down memory lane
photographs, women’s page, children’s page,
youths’ page, religious question and answers,
articles by regular and guest columnists, global update
and health news amongst other news. |

| The Editorial Board |
| Editor: Munir Daya has been the
Editor for five years prior to which he was an Assistant
Editor for about a decade. He is the Managing Director of
Rentokil Tanzania Limited and a marketing Rep for Detia
Degesch in Tanzania. Has been a freelance columnist with
many papers including the Kenya Daily and Sunday nation,
Mombasa’s Coastweek and the Daily and Sunday News in
Tanzania. Currently compiles the crosswords and has
weekly columns in the Business times (Thought of the
Week) and the Sunday Observer (Sunday Musings). |

| Associate Editor Mukhtar Damji
has been on the Editorial Board for 5 years. He operates
an electrical company in Dar es Salaam. |

| Photographer Murtaza Jivraj is
behind many of the pictures that you see in the Samachar.
Unfortunately imperfect scanning facilities or photo
printing problems reduce the actual quality in the final
publication. Murtaza runs a photography and laboratory
equipment company in Dar es salaam. He is also on the
Bilal Muslim Mission Board and is an ardent community
occasion photographer. He has been on the Samachar Board
for five years and has been the ‘Community Man’
when it comes to taking photographs for important
occasions. |

| Distributor Fazleabbas Dhirani
has been on the Samachar Board for five years. Fazleabbas
aggressively handles the Samachar distribution in Dar es
salaam. Previously he was also involved with
international distribution which is now handled by the
Secretatiat because of its proximity to overseas jamaats.
Fazleabbas runs a decorating firm in Dar es salaam. He is
also a member of the Central Health Board. |

| The man behind many of the adverts in
the Samachar is Amir Lakha who has also
been on the Board for five years. He is currently in the
UK following his son’s car accident in Nairobi but
will insha’allah be back to serve the Board once
again. |
