2ND TRIP TO CHINA – TRADE FAIR  

CHINA EXPORT COMMODITIES FAIR
DATE: 15TH TO
30TH OCTOBER 2003
VENUE: GUANGZHOU (CANTON ) - SOUTH CHINA 

The Economic Affairs Board of the Africa Federation is organising a trip to the China Export Commodities fair from 15 – 30 October 2003. The details of the Fair are given below.  

All those interested in joining the delegation travelling to this Fair are requested to contact the Secretariat offices either in Nairobi or Dar-es-Salaam (see contacts at the end). Those interested should submit their names together with their nationality, country of residence and passport number. This information is for the invitation letter and hotel accommodation. 

The Economic Affairs Board will then obtain the invitation letter for all those who have submitted their names. This invitation letter is important for visa purposes.

 Travel Information 

1) ACCOMMODATION
Arrangements are being made for accommodation in
China, the rates are approximately USD 80 for a double, at a 3/4 star hotel per night. 

2) VISA
Visas have to be obtained by participants directly from embassies in their respective countries. We however need your nationality, country of residence and passport number to obtain the invitation letter for you to ease the visa process. 

Requirements for Visas acquisition:
A)        It is necessary for people applying for a visa to have an invitation letter from the organizer.
B)       
Persons holding a British or an American passport, who reside and work in a foreign
            country under a permit, can apply for a Visa directly from the Chinese Embassy in
            that country. This also applies to other nationals working in foreign countries.
C)
       It is necessary for everybody who intends to visit China to obtain a visa.
D)
       It is also necessary to carry all health documents when visiting China.
E)         Visas cost approximately Kshs 2200 per person. (approx. 20- 50$ US)

3) AIR TICKET
Regarding the airfares, since a considerable number of people are planning to visit the trade fair, we are in the process of acquiring a special airfare. We are also arranging to appoint travel agents within East Africa, who will assist members in reserving a seat according to the itinerary. Detailed information will be passed in due course. Approximately USD 950 should be budgeted for airfare, inclusive of taxes – that is for the route Nairobi-Dubai-Hong Kong-Ghuanzhou-Hong Kong-Dubai-Nairobi.

4) REGISTRATION
1.         The invitation letters issued is for your visa application cannot be used for registration
            during the Fair.
2.         Registration is not permitted via the Internet or in advance.
3.         Documents required during registration include:

  • Personal Papers (Passport); 
  • Business Card;
  • A recent personal photo (5cmX4cm)

4.         Registration fee is about USD10 each
5.         Registration time:
9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
6.         Registration venue: Gate 1 of the Fair Complex in Guangzhou

You should register yourself before you visit the Fair.  Once being registered, you will get a Visitor Card.  To gain entry into the Halls of the fair, please show your card.

NOTE: Due to peak season in China during the Fair season, hotel accommodation is expected to be scarce. The hotel bookings will be made on a first come first basis
