 RECLAMATION OF PROPERTY IN SOMALIA

The process of building a state in Somalia is nearing its final stages. This process is taking place in Mbagathi, a few kilometres away from Nairobi city. The Africa Federation has alerted the Somali fraternity that drafting the country’s constitution that the rights of minorities should be upheld. This of course would include that land and property that once belonged to the minorities be returned once a government is in place.  

The Africa Federation is currently in the process of reclaiming the land and property that belonged to the Khoja Shia Ithna Asheri community; this includes the Masjids and Imambargahs. As this is going on we are requesting all those who have property or land in Somalia to send us a copy of the title deeds so that we can, at the same time, also lodge to reclaim their property. The process if done together would no doubt turn help us save costs of hiring legal expertise. The reclamation of personal property and land however, will be done on a cost-sharing basis between the Federation and the individuals.
