Defining the Target Profile of a Madrasah Graduate

Report of the Workshop held in New York, March 1997. In order to arrive at the desired destination, it is critical to define that destination and then work towards developing the roadmap to get there. This report defines the desired outcomes of a student who has been through the madrasah and the core knowledge, the analytical tools and support needed to graduate such students.

Curriculum Development Process (CDP): First Steps in the Implementation of “The Target Profile of a Madrasah Graduate”

Report of the Retreat held in Minneapolis, May 1998. One of the key components towards realization of a “Target Profile of a Madrasah Graduate” is an integrated curriculum. This publication lays out a logical and cohesive framework for Akhlaq and Tarikh and identifies key themes and sub-themes to be covered. It also identifies available resources for the development of course materials.

Workbook for the Implementation of M-DEP: A Step-by-Step Manual

The workbook, published in June 2002, lays out the procedures for implementation of M-DEP, including how to apply the measurement criteria to performance requirements and how to determine the appropriate score to assign to them. Consequently, it will serve as a document that summarizes the relative strengths and weaknesses of a madrasah to enable a plan for sustained improvements to be developed.

Resource Papers

Occasional papers on themes identified in the CDP designed to fill the void in available resources, and present material in a contemporary format to appeal to modern-day students. To date, three papers have been published, “The companions of the Imams,” “Charity in Islam” and “Qur’an – The Authentic Book of Allah.”

 http://www.naieb.org/ieb/ResPapers/ResPapers.htm

There is a continuous effort to publish more resource papers as more of the learned amongst the community members come forward to undertake this important task.

 Tripartite Exchange Newsletter

A tri-annual publication initiated in January 1999 that deals with teaching philosophies, methodologies and practical classroom management issues. A feature article is included in each issue to serve as a parent-teacher communication tool. Eight issues have been published to date; ninth issue is in press.
