The Central Health Board and the Africa Federation Women’s Board organized their second Women’s Health Awareness screening in Moshi on Sunday, 29th March 2015. This was in line with the aim of the ongoing campaign in order to raise health awareness in the women of our community and promote the culture of regular health checkups in the members of our community.

The screening involved checking of Random Blood Glucose (RBG) and Blood Pressure together with special screenings for Breast Cancer and Cervical Cancer this time carried out by Dr. Khadija Said who accompanied the team to Moshi. Before the screening program, Dr. Khadija took some time to share general health tips with the women.

The screening program was carried out at the Jaffery Charitable Medical Services Dispensary in Moshi which is a community facility. Eighteen (18) women were screened and given instant advice based on the findings and general consultation for other health issues as well. Recommendations for further checkups were given where deemed necessary.

The women also received flyers containing information on important health related issues affecting the lives of women such as importance of Vitamin D, Infertility, Exercise, Cervical Cancer, Physiotherapy, Depression and Family Planning. They were also given ‘Stress Balls’ as gifts for participating in the screening with a small message on how to use the stress balls.

The screening and the advices received from Dr. Khadija were highly appreciated by the women.

The Central Health Board and the Africa Federation Women’s Board would like to thank the Moshi Jamaat and the volunteers from Moshi for their hospitality, coordination and support towards this activity. Also our sincere appreciation goes to Dr. Khadija Said from PSI Tanzania who devoted her time for this activity.

This activity also allowed the Central Health Board - CHB an opportunity to visit the Jaffery Charitable Medical Services Dispensary; and the Women’s Board to conduct a needs assessment with the women of Moshi Jamaat.

We intend to continue to organize such programs for other Jamaats in the future as steps towards a healthy community.
