On 28th November 2013, students of Egerton University, Njoro, visited Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya to attend a Seminar cum exhibition on Discover Islam. he students were from the Department of Philosophy, History and Religion from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. They were accompanied by Dr. Onyancha , Chairman and Mr. Macharia Mwangi , Senior lecturer.  

The students were taken through an exhibition of posters on “Discover Islam”. The seminar was opened by the recitation of a verse from the Holy Qur’an.

The first paper ‘Islam as a Religion and Islamic Attitude to other Religions’ was delivered by Sheikh Stambuli Abdillahi Nassir. In his captivating presentation, Stambuli described Islam as the only religion that recognizes the other two major religions namely Judaism and Christianity.

In his second paper - Jihad, Islam and Terrorism, Sheikh Stambuli defined Jihad in its right context. He categorized Jihad in two forms; major and minor jihad as described by the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.w). He described major Jihad as striving to remain on the right path. Minor jihad he said is to fight in defense.




In commemoration of the Martyrdom of the grandson of the Holy Prophet (PBUP) Imam Husayn (AS), Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya in conjunction with Kwale District Eye Centre and Jaffery Medical Centre organized a Medical Camp on Sunday, 17th November 2013 at Samburu Health Centre in Kwale County to assist patients with eye diseases, general health problems and polio vaccination.

Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya organized a Six Day Module 2 Training on Business Management for Jipe Moyo Women Group in Bilal Centre at Dembwa from 20th to 25th October 2013. This comes after the group went through the Module 1 training in Leadership and Financial Savings skills which was conducted June, 2013.

The main objective of this module was to help the women fraternity in the Micro-finance groups to better understand:

  • The importance of starting a profitable business
  • Importance of controlling their business cash.
  • Profit and loss in a business.
  • Strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT Analysis) of a business.
  • The marketing tools (6p's) i.e. Place, Product, Promotion, Price, People, and Plan.
  • The importance of record keeping for their businesses.

The module was facilitated by BMMK trainers Sis Sidi Nyota and Sis Kauchi Chifui. A session on Islamic Religious Education was also held during the training and was facilitated by Sis. Zainab Jaffer.

With the sighting of the moon of Muharram, for the first Islamic calendar month, which Muslims across the globe commemorated by mourning  the great martyrdom of Imam Husayn (AS), the Grandson of our Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAWW), and the tragic events of Kerbala.  The Mission conducted various activities in the rural villages and in Mombasa for the first ten days of Muharram for performing azaadari of Imam Husayn (AS).

With continuous training received from the Mission on empowerment.  The women groups have come up with the idea of creating a platform to market their products in different areas.  One such step forward was facilitating local trade fairs in their villages.

The first local trade fair was hosted by Lamkani Women Group, Mackinon Road village, on 21st August, 2013.   Members from 15 Women groups under BMMK Economic Upliftment Project from Ukambani, Taita and South Coast participated in the trade fair.
