Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya organized a Six Day Module 2 Training on Business Management for Jipe Moyo Women Group in Bilal Centre at Dembwa from 20th to 25th October 2013. This comes after the group went through the Module 1 training in Leadership and Financial Savings skills which was conducted June, 2013.

The main objective of this module was to help the women fraternity in the Micro-finance groups to better understand:

  • The importance of starting a profitable business
  • Importance of controlling their business cash.
  • Profit and loss in a business.
  • Strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT Analysis) of a business.
  • The marketing tools (6p's) i.e. Place, Product, Promotion, Price, People, and Plan.
  • The importance of record keeping for their businesses.

The module was facilitated by BMMK trainers Sis Sidi Nyota and Sis Kauchi Chifui. A session on Islamic Religious Education was also held during the training and was facilitated by Sis. Zainab Jaffer.

The Average attendance of the participants per day was 40.

Activities undertaken during the training:

  • Islamic Religious Education was conducted on topics like 'Marriages', 'Divorce', 'Wudhu', 'Salaat' and  Akhlaq as was practiced by the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.W).
  • Issues pertaining businesses, profit & loss in a business, cash control, SWOT analysis, the 6 P's were taught through interactive discussions, role plays, case studies and storytelling.
  • Work Plan was set up

  • IRE lectures were a brain buster as all members could relate to the topics discussed and many questions in relation to religion were asked.
  • Participants understood how a business should be run and how effectively the business could earn profits and losses. The training was well received.

Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya would like to thank all those involved in this training program. We also like to thank our well-wishers and supporters without whose support, such programs would be difficult to organize.
