Unity amongst the Muslim Community

One of the important roles played by Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya is to preach peace and unity amongst Muslim communities.

The Mission organized an Open forum at Ahlul Bayt Centre, Moyeni on 24th February 2013, where members of the community, irrespective of their religious affiliations, age or gender were invited.

Leaders from diverse backgrounds were a part of this forum where they shared their views.   Key objectives of this forum were to:

  1. To create a closer relationship between Muslims and other communities.
  2. Emphasizing on peace and unity 
  3. Highlighting the importance of Education

Qasidas were recited at regular intervals by students from various madaaris within Kwale County.

Importance of Secular and Islamic Education

Ustadh Twamim Salim from Ahlul Kisaa Centre, Kichakamkwaju dwelt on the importance and role of both the secular and Islamic education in today's world. In his speech, he encouraged parents and students to take the issue of education very seriously. He ended by quoting a hadith from the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.w), "Seeking of knowledge is obligatory upon every Muslim man and woman."

Unity and Islam

"Oh you men! Surely We have created you of a male and a female, and made you into tribes and nations, that you may know each other; surely the most honourable of you with Allah (swt) is the one who fears Allah (swt) [one who has taqwa] ....." Holy Qur'an verse 49:13.

Ustadh Hussein Tuba from Madrasah Ameerul Mu'minin, Matuga spoke about Unity from an Islamic point of view.  Ustadh Hussein, spoke about brotherhood and pointed out that if one is not a brother resulting from sharing the same parents, then he is either a brother in faith or a brother in humanity.

Leadership and Islam

Ustadh Musa Shali deliberated on the importance and role of leaders in Islam.  He pointed out that leaders have a fundamental role of fostering peace and cohesion to members of their respective communities.

Local leaders from Moyeni village and former councilor were present at Forum.

The area Chief, thanked the Mission for organizing such a forum.  He stated those who had paid attention to the lectures and speeches have benefitted from this forum.

The Mission plans to have more of these kinds of forums in other regions.
