“Good habits formed at youth make all the difference.”

The Mission has been holding Vacation camps for Madressah since 2013. These camps enhance the students with spiritual and moral upbringing. The students also benefit with religious knowledge and general knowledge on the emerging issues that affects the youth. This also helps them to develop skills in communication, leadership, dua recitations and socially interact with students from various regions.

The Mission in December this year held a similar camp at the Mission’s Jaffery Centre, Macknon Road. This was the Mission’s first centre initiated in 1972. The camp was scheduled from 25th November to 9th December 2014. Some of the topics that were included in this year’s camp were; Women in Islam, Rights of Teenagers, Drug Abuse & Affects, HIV/AIDS, Prophethood, Imamate, Masails, Ghadir, Sakifa and other topics.

The facilitators for the camp were officers from the QASD department of the Mission, religious instructors from various Mission centres, female religious instructor from Madressah Zahra (Mombasa) and a clinical officer ( A Shia sister educated by the Mission).

The camp was inaugurated by the Local Government Administration team, the D.O, the chief and assistant chief on 25th December 2014. A total of 179 students and about 8 facilitators were accommodated at the centre. The public Jaffery Primary School offered its tuition rooms for the classes.

"All praises and thanks is to Allah (s.w.t) for everything during our two week, peaceful stay here in Mackinnon Road. I also thank the management of Bilal Muslim Mision of Kenya for having thought about this idea of organizing holiday camp for us. This camp has enabled us to fulfill one of the Prophet's (s.a.w.w) hadith that advises us to seek knowledge even if it’s from China. Besides, we have made new friends in these days we have been here."

Shaaban Hamisi - Ahlul Kisaa Centre, Kichakamkwaju.

"This is my second time attending these camps. Actually I have learnt a lot from this camp. Having completed secondary education this year, I was ready and willing to attend this course rather than staying idle at home. This has been a very good forum for me to strengthen my faith and learn more about Islamic culture. Besides, it has given the participants an opportunity to interact and learn from amongst ourselves."

Riziki Husein - Amani Centre Dembwa.

The Mission extends its profound appreciation to the Mohsin and Fauzia Jaffer Foundation of the United States of America for their support towards this noble and important venture.
